... I get to take photos of our beautiful roses.
... I am able to smell the roses.
... Then I get to share the roses with two boys who are curious and interested in the texture, the scent, the sound, the creatures that live in and on the roses.
That is quite a lesson! Just a few minutes out of a hectic day of building pirate ships and dens and sleighs.
It is a job full of challenges being a full time mum with a business. I haven't yet worked out how it works for us as a family but I trust that it will. I have seen it work beautifully for other families which reassures me that it will turn out perfectly for us.
So anyway 'why I love my job'...
I am free to schedule our days however I fancy. I am free to step up and help care for a sick relative or visit a friend or explore a National Trust property.
And my children come too. They get to spend time with their extended family or play with their friends toys or run free in acres of green National Trust land.
I am blessed with a huge extended family who all love my children. I am blessed with wonderful friends and I am blessed with access to a diverse range of activities I can do with my children.
Some days it is easy to wallow in self pity about the loss of freedom because of having children. But that is not the truth. The truth is I have different freedom - two little people's needs to consider and then I can be wherever I choose!!
I love the joy my job brings me.
The freedom to visit spectacular places with my family.
The freedom to enjoy my life in a way I never have before.
I am so grateful for this opportunity to learn, to grow, to experiment, to play, to explore, to discover, to see the world through the eyes of my children and to have time to smell the roses.
